Pocket Change is a Durban based band comprised of Brandon Hunt, Voyo Nozaza, Nkule Blose and Pasgenik Makatini.
These four young individuals are both inventive and vibrant and together they create a magic formula of musical chemistry. Through each members musical expression they have created a rare sound which they refer to as ‘Acoustic Hip Hop’, something that has perhaps been missing from the Durban and South African music scene for some time.
The band came together when Brandon, Voyo and Nkule met whilst working at popular Durban eatery Spiga ‘ Dora.
They first performed together at the San Luca Festival and things grew from there.
After a few more performances and having been enthusiastically received the band decided to take things a step further.
It was at this stage that it was agreed to incorporate into the band what they believed to be the missing link…. A beatboxer by the name of Pasgenick Makatini, thus completing the equation.
In the past few months the band have been performing at various venues around Durban getting their name and unique musical style out into the public domain.
They have performed alongside other well known acts such as The Fuzz, Maisha, Fire Through the Window and The City Bowl Mizers.
They recently took part in the inaugural SA Music sessions at The Willowvale, aimed at highlighting the quality of South African music and Celebrate Durban Festival.
