A PERSONAL REVIEW FROM HARRY......
I always like to fuse a series of entertainment vignettes throughout the course of the evening when I MC, as opposed to just a one hour segment and then the entertainment for the night wraps up. So I break- up my entertainment segments over starter, main and dessert creating a more cohesive entertainment structure to the event. I perform songs from my Big Band Swing Repertoire which includes songs from my debut studio album My Favourite Swings as well as songs from my soon to be released 2nd studio album titled “I wanna dress you in chocolate”. I then sprinkle the evening with comedy, anecdotes as well as a comedic dance segment that guarantees to leave audiences screaming in their seats with laughter. Depending on the style of your event, I can also facilitate a trivia, 30 seconds and a battle of the sexes games show, which comes with all the sound effects etc…If there are awards or speeches, I can gladly facilitate them as well.
I have performed at events where all of the above were fused into the night’s long entertainment repertoire and proved very successful. You are not charged extra if you choose some of them over others. Sometimes I’ve planned entertainment segments with clients and on the evening things start heading in another direction and when that happens, I allow for the natural flow of the evening, as per what the audience seems to want and enjoy.
I’ll be there for the entire duration of your dinner. I’m not one of those artists who charges by the hour, so I always encourage my clients to ‘use me’ on the night as much as they can. My fee is the same whether I’m there for an hour or 6. So it makes better sense for me to be there throughout your event so as to create fluidity to the evening. It’s my way of giving you more bang for your buck.
My strong points are been able to read an audience and play off them. I also like chatting with the client beforehand to get some inside information on some of their guests, as sharing some of these funnies with everyone on the night is always a great way of breaking the ice and creating a warm and comic opening to the evening.
Obviously due to the nature of my entertainment and my complex soundtracks, I always work with my sound guy who has all my tracks. He can also DJ if you would like him to at no additional cost. He provides great background music and also supplies some ambient lighting for the room.
It would be great if we could facilitate some spot prizes for the winners. It doesn’t have to be anything to flashy or expensive but it would be a nice to have. If you like I can organise the prizes and I can just add the cost to the invoice.
