"The music that can deepest reach and cure all ill, is cordial speech" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Raymond de Villiers

When in Raymond's company people are often heard to say: "Where did you get fact from?" or "How do you know all these weird things?". His wife often hits him on the shoulder and bemoans that fact that they aren't the millionaires they would've been if he had entered 'Who wants to be a Millionaire?' when she had told him to. His broad general knowledge, excellent speaking ability, and heart for coaching and teaching, coupled with his futurist orientation make him a valuable Tomorrow Today resource.

Raymond is a text book Gen X'er - with all of the passion and contradiction that implies. He has a diverse background ranging through engineering, theology, IT, change management and futures studies. It is this diversity that makes him a creative lateral thinker able to combine wide-ranging resources to craft unique solutions.

He graduated from high school - where he was deputy head boy - with a technical Matric in Fitting & Turning - in 1989. Raymond went on to spend a gap year as a team member of a national youth ministry team with the Baptist Union. After spending two years studying Mechanical Engineering at Wits Tech in 1994, he left to read Theology at BTC Randburg eventually graduating with a Bth (Arts) (1st class) from University of Zululand and Licentiate in Ministry (Cum Laude) from BTC (SA). He is currently completing an MPhil (Futures Studies) through the Institute of Futures Research at the Stellenbosch University Business School.

His professional experience is varied. Through his student years and beyond he served in ministerial positions in churches in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Since leaving full-time church work he has run the Cape Town office of Barrel & Screw Technologies (Pty) Ltd - a Johannesburg engineering company - and worked for Dimension Data. For the past few years he has been the Director of Operations for B2B4C Future Management (Pty) Ltd, a successful boutique management consulting company based in Cape Town. Raymond's road of professional growth has developed a passion for a trans-disciplinary approach to organizational strategy. He places particular emphasis on a business's people and the requirements for success and thriving in a future that will be radically different from our past.

Raymond has worked as a user community consultant for several of South Africa's 'Blue Chip' companies including Old Mutual, Sanlam, Vodacom, British American Tobacco, and Woolworths.
