After first appearing together in Girl Talk, Connie and Jani have finally decided to join forces in 2013! Performing a wide variety of music ranging from acoustic to rock, country to swing and much much more!

CONNIE BENTLAGE - SAXOPHONE & KEYBOARDS

Connie has performed in shows such as: “The Official Tribute to the Blues Brothers” (which won the best theatre production of the year – Vita award 1997) Rory Rootenberg’s “Cadenza”; “Feeling Groovy”; Carousel’s “Decades”; Emperor’s “Inferno”; “Stage Fright, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and was Musical Director and performed in Richard Loring´s: “Girl Talk 1”; “Girl Talk Nite Out”, “Girl Talk 005”, “Girl Talk 007” and Jervis Pennington’s “Scribble”.

Connie was assistant musical director for Janis Honeyman’s Pantomime “Jack & the Beanstalk”. She has also performed extensively on the Barnyard theatre circuit in shows such as: “Glory Days”; “Roll over Beethoven”, “Rock on Beethoven”, “70’s Revolution”, “Natural Woman”, “The 60’s Revolution” and “The Boys are Back in Town”. She also musically directed shows such as Jervis Pennington’s “Chef, Rattle & Roll” and the Buddy Holly show “That’ll Be the Day” for Richard Loring at the Globe Theatre, Gold Reef City. For her work on this production she was nominated in the category “Best Musical Director” for the Naledi Awards.
 
Highlights in her performing career were Nelson Mandela’s 80th Birthday Gala at Gallagher Estate where she shared a stage with celebrities: Michael Jackson; Nina Simone; Stevie Wonder and many others and opening for Joe Cocker in 2008 with Neill Solomon, as well as Hugh Masakela & Johnny Clegg for the Mmino Durban Heritage Day Festival in 2009 where she had the privilege of performing with Oliver Mtukudzi, Ray Phiri and many others.

JANI - VOCALS AND GUITAR

Originally a Capetonian, Jani’s musical career started at the age of 4 when she picked up the guitar and started singing. Placing second in Mnet’s “Star search of the year” competition. Throughout Jani’s high school career she organized and managed band slams at “The Purple Turtle” and “Chili ‘n lime” venues in Cape Town. Jani has toured the garden route with her African band ‘amaAmbush” and has played at venues in and around the “Hermanus whale festival” and the “Knysna Oyster festival”.
 
Jani has performed in musical theatre shows such as Richard Loring’s: “Girltalk 005” and “Girltalk 007” playing lead guitar, marimba’s, backing vocals and percussion. Jani has also performed at The Barnyard in their musical production “Girls Wanna Rock”, where she played lead guitar, backing vocals, marimba’s and percussion. In 2012, Jani played lead guitar in Beyond Red’s production called “Chix Rock” at Carnival City and after that started her own band called “The Scarletts”. Jani currently sings and plays guitar for “Cutting Edge”.
 
Jani has also performed with artists such as Melanie Louw and SHE band. Jani does session work, solo and duo performances for events, weddings and shows.
