Summary Profile


John was born & raised in Kwa Zulu Natal. He started playing piano at the age of 8 & eventually took up the guitar at the age of 12. John began performing with a variety of school bands semi-professionally & then continued performing through varsity & the military in various other semi-professional bands.

In 1979 John moved to Johannesburg where he started performing at clubs in & around Johannesburg, both with different bands & as a solo artist. At the end of 1979 John began touring with Anton Goosen, Laurika Rauch & Sonja Herholdt, in the then Afrikaans “New Wave”. Soon after, he became a member of Four Jacks & a Jill, who still successfully record & perform today.

To date, John has been involved in recording, producing, arranging & engineering more than 30 CD projects for which he has been nominated and awarded gold and platinum disk status. He is also a final mix engineer & has mixed soundtracks for film & video as well as radio & T.V. ads.

John has experience playing to both smaller and larger audiences including stadiums venues. He has performed at various Casinos’, Pubs, Restaurants & private events, and has also appeared on radio and television, both locally and Internationally.

John’s ability to play a variety of instruments, including string instruments, guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo etc. as well as piano, drums & percussion, allow him to be versatile in his tastes as well as performance in music. He has a vast repertoire encompassing music from the 50’s to today which are guaranteed to keep the crowds entertained.
