She is an Associate Lecturer in Human Resource Management for Infochoice/WITS Business School’s MDP Programme and is a facilitator for Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. She is an Associate OD Consultant for Symphonia Consulting and an Accredited Master Facilitator for Worldsview Consulting: facilitating Leadership and Team Development interventions ( Conversations in Leadership and Purposeful Teams). She is an Accredited ‘Thinking Partner’ with The Thinking Environment.
Melanie holds a Higher Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Town, and started her career in Secondary Education in 1992. In 1998, she joined the national retailer, The Foschini Group, where over a period of 11 years, she led the Human Resource function for three Divisions (Manufacturing: TFGA; Homeware Retail: @home; and Apparel Retail: Exact!) and also completed a certificate in Retail Management through UNISA. Melanie is a highly skilled Senior HR Manager, having established the HR strategy, infrastructure, systems and philosophy within her divisions. She drove and facilitated strategic change initiatives and Human Resource projects throughout The Foschini Group.
Melanie has over 18 years of experience in working with people to facilitate growth and transformation. She is an experienced Large Group Process and World Café facilitator and she believes in the power of conversation as a catalyst for change and for the creation of new realities and culture transformation within organisations. Her café conversations have involved groups ranging from small to approximately 400 participants. She has hosted public café events: July 2009 Art Festival (ThinkFest); September 2010 Science Festival (SciFest); 2011 Art Festival (ThinkFest) and will be hosting 3 café conversations at the 6th Annual International Science Congress to be hosted in CT in September 2011.
Melanie consults in South Africa with a large number of organisations, ranging from small privately owned companies to large multi-nationals, in the areas of Strategy and Process Facilitation, Leadership Development, Team Effectiveness, Personal Mastery, Change & Culture Transformation.
She is also a Hatha Yoga Teacher, having studied at the Ananda Kutir Ashram in CT and has been teaching Yoga since 2004.
